It's a Wonderful Life! Christmas 2010

Christmas in Utah with our sweet baby boy was short and sweet. It took nine hours to get there but was well worth it. Here are the many things we got to do and memories for Christmas 2010.

· Daxton got lots of loves and snuggles from the whole family. We felt pretty lucky to be able to see most of the family and have Dax meet the entire Robinson side of the family. We got to meet beautiful baby Morgan who was born just one month after Dax so it was a treat meeting her, I imagine her a Dax will be great friends.

· We watched Despicable Me 5 times…yes 5 times because it’s hilarious! Oh Yeaaahhhh!

· McKay and I made Zuppa Toscana for the Christmas eve dinner.

· Dax sat on Santa’s lap.

· Went to lunch and did some shopping with Mark and Mary.

· McKay played bocce on the PlayStation at Jack’s house with the fam

· I got my Bosch mixer.

· McKay got a suit. He is the finest looking pharmacist ever!

· Daxton got his jumper, clothes and toys.

· We ate a lot of food and junk.

· We missed the Parry Family so much and thought about Fisher and cute baby Sage every day.

· We got some good sleep (not anticipated, considering Dax was in a different environment but he slept awesome)

· We sat around the Christmas tree with Gracie, Maggie, Dylan, Nana, Papa and Natalie on Christmas Eve and laughed really hard watching my nieces and nephew joke and goof around, they also performed some music that they learned in their choir class. Then Nana, Nat and I stayed up until 2 just chatting.

· We got to see our Nephew Jacksen do the funniest dance I have ever seen. (Jack you really need to post that on youtube)

· We ate at SmashBurger for dirt cheap with our Groupon.

· We listened to lots of music Christmas Day with the Family. All the siblings shared our different music tastes and why we liked them. This was so fun for us.

· We went to see Grammy Munson in her rehabilitation home and chatted with Aunt Kathryn too. It was nice to see that Grammy was doing well.

Most importantly, McKay and I got to share our pride and joy with everyone. It was so great to see how much our families love Daxton. It gave us a little glance of what’s to come in May when McKay graduates and we move back to UT.

Dax loved Santa! Who would've thought! McKay sat him in his lap and he just snuggled right up and probably would of taken a snooze.

He liked Mrs. Clause even more and she liked him. She and Santa joked that they would take Daxton to the North Pole with them.

All of Daxton's Cousins
My Dad and Mom have invited Santa to our home every Christmas Eve for years and I always remember imagining this day and this photo with our own child in his lap.

Nana and Papa StikaGetting some love from Uncle Jack

Just about to fall asleep in Aunty Natalie arms. I love this pic Natalie looking all cute and Dax thinking he is a blow fish.
About 5 seconds later. Out like a light!Dax got a his rain forest jumperoo from Nana and Papa.

He was not so sure at first but finally found out that there were lots of noises and colors to listen to and look at.

Dax got lots of great things for Christmas ...well, we all did. We feel very lucky to have such great families that love Dax so much.

I guess Sammy needed to wake Dax up to tell him it was Christmas Eve morning. We thought it was pretty funny that he needed to check on him even during naps.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a happy New Year!

4 months old...Baby Daxton, Bumbos, Beanies, Bees, Books and much much more!

I am pretty sure Dax can read……k not really but the reason I start with that is because my last post I expressed some things we were struggling with like not sleeping more that about 6 hrs at night at a time. Well he sure was not happy that I decided to tell the world and to prove me wrong in the last couple weeks he decided to start sleeping 9 hours straight some times up to 11 hrs. Next, rolling over. He just had no interest in the idea at all, and a couple days later he was rolling over from his back to his tummy a lot! Every once in a while he goes from front to back but I figure he likes tummy time so why roll back right? What a stinker!

Funny story: Back to sleeping, for some reason I was majorly stressing about how to work with him to put himself to sleep for naps and at night. Should I try the “Ferber method” and have him cry it out? Maybe the “No Tears” method because I’m a softy? Or just skip it all together. I was not exactly ready to move him to the nursery and have him be a big boy and put himself to sleep but I knew it was time. I read a couple different ideas that Doctors, RN’s and Moms had and just flat out gave up and thought to myself I am just going to see what happens! So for his next nap that same day, I laid him down in his crib when he was drowsy, walked away for minute and hoped he would do OK. I only heard some babbling and cooing to his friends on his mobile and eventually it was silent. I peeked my head in and what do you know, he was out like a light! Daxton has successfully been putting himself to sleep with no struggles or little fussing for over 2 weeks. The best part is sometimes I get kind of sad and want cuddle and rock him to sleep…..so I do. I quickly learned that I need to stop stressing over these types of things and give Daxton a little credit for being a good little baby. I need to give a big thanks to Mr. Alligator, Whale, Polar Bear and Penguin for keeping Dax company while he dozes off.

4 Month appointment:

Time is sure flying! Dax had his 4-month appointment and it went great. Dax is our average baby in weight height being in the 50th percentile and growing like a weed! We got the okay from Dr. Horst to start rice cereal, so we are excited to get messy! He his hitting all his milestones wonderfully and he received his 2nd round of shots. For this round I had McKay hold him down and I planned on nursing him right after he got the shots hoping that it would calm him down. I am terrible and again assumed that he was going to break the glass in the building from his screaming. To my surprise he let out a big cry, dad picked him up and he just whimpered quietly in his dads arms for minute. I walked over with tears in my eyes because of how sweet he looked being coddled by his daddy and Dax gave me his darn cute half smile and mushed his face back into his dads chest. So cute and strong too!

Now all the fun we have around our home:

We love the bumbo and cute babies in beanies playing with a bee!

Couldn't live with out it!

Daxton got a surprise it the mail from his cousin Fisher, a Nemo! Fisher's fav and apparently Daxton's too! Its the perfect size and he loves holding it and sucking on it.

There are two ways I imagine Dax in my mind, one is a happy smiling baby and this one below when he is content and somber.

Two favorite fingers! I cant get them out of his mouth most of his pics look like this now.

Daxton loves loves his bumbo! He acts like a big boy sitting all by himself getting to watch us from a different view.

....he also enjoys watching Baby Einstein in it too. I think he looks like a happy old man sitting in a sofa in this pic.

Story time! How cute is this? I am surrounded by 3 cute boys!

He really likes this book and I am obsessed with getting robot books, toys, clothes etc... for Dax so I'm glad he likes it.

Its so darn cute when he is happy but when your are trying to get milk in his belly its hard to not respond back.

Here is a quick video of our little guy trying to talk to his good friend Mr. Sun on his play mat. He sure is a lot of fun and he is learning to use his voice more every day!

What a Goof Ball!

Caution! Major picture overload.

Our blog is a great way to get pics and updates to family and friends that live in Utah and it is awesome material to place in Daxton’s memory book.

Seriously, Daxton is the funniest little boy. His personality comes out more all the time and he makes us laugh a lot. What a joy and huge blessing it is to have so much happiness in our home.

Dax is now 3 months, weighting in at over 13 lbs!!! I am not exactly sure how he gains any weight, because he is quit the big spitter upper at times. Some days I wonder if he even keeps any milk in his tummy. Unfortunately, his sleep habits haven't changed since he was 2 months old, but fortunately at 2 months he was a pretty descent sleeper. He still eats once a night, but thank goodness goes right back to bed so we don’t loose much sleep. He is also still a big lover of the swaddle blanket. Who knows when that stinkin startle reflex will go away. On the bright side he basically zonks out within seconds of being swaddled so that is nice especially at night, church and work. I really need to put some videos up because Daxton talks in his own little voice all the time! We love talking back as though we all understand each other and are having deep meaningful conversations. It’s so cute.

The day has finally come! McKay moved home this weekend and we are all thrilled. It was not an easy thing to have McKay living in Colorado. I was basically a single mom that worked, took care of the house, Sammy and myself. When I was contemplating not going back to work and just moving down to Loveland, a very wise women once told me: “ If you can make it through this Jess you will feel so much more confidant as a mother”. Thanks Maren for the pep talk. I am very happy with the decision I made. So here we are now McKay has been home for 2 days and I can't get Daxton out of his arms. As you can see by the pictures, Daxton is pretty happy being there.

Now bring on the pictures!

Daxton getting some much loved raspberries!

This is Daxton waking up from a very short nap. In the morning or when I hear him wake up, I sneak in and poke my head over the crib and wait till he sees me. Then I get this reaction. Priceless!

He still loves getting his diaper changed

He thinks his hands are pretty yummy

One weekend that McKay came home, it snowed, so we went and took some pics and went on a drive to our favorite coffee shop to get scones and hot snow (white hot chocolate with coconut milk)

Dax slept the whole time while mom and dad caught up.

The little stink pot has no interest in rolling over but loves flipping on his side to get a different view.

.....but dont worry he pretty much stands on his own! With little help he stands like this for about a minute plops back down and pushes back up again. ( I will be putting a videos of all this soon dad I promise)

Dad giving the little squirt a bath.

He likes feeling the water running over his hands

Ready for bed!

This happens a lot. He gets pretty worn out after tummy time, food, bath, and a story. Ahhh my sweet little boy.

Now that I am back to work, I feel pretty lucky to able to take him with me. Here I am taking a break, while he sleeps on me in the conference room. Most days are good, but others can be pretty tough. It's times like this that I really count my blessings. I can't beat getting paid to watch my own son.
