We did lots of busy fun activities this month to celebrate fall, so do I even need to explain that there are lots of pics? I always put too many pics. Sorry ☺

McKay's mom went with us to Corn Bellys at Thanksgiving Point and it was a blast! All the activities seemed as though they were going to be too big and advanced for Dax, but he proved us wrong by keeping up with the big boys!

I was interested to see what he would do in these mini corn mazes and he ended up thinking it was pretty fun to make the choice of left or right, keep going or turn around.

He didn't get the the whole trick or treating thing of course, but he did loved carrying his treat bag around, watching the other kids in their costumes and knocking on the doors. When he would knock and the person would open the door he would turn around and walk away but when got him back up there instead of taking a treat from them he would try and give them one of his treats. It was pretty cute.

It was a successful night of Halloween.

It was Grammy's Birthday in October and we got to go celebrate with her at her rest home and have a little party with all the great grand kids.

Vegas

The pics are all out of order, but here's a quick run down of what we did.

My Parents always take the grand kids down to Vegas for fall and spring break and this was the first year we got to go. (McKay excluded of course)

It was a great break from the everyday stuff we do in UT. The 4 day included lots and lots of swimming, eating lots of good food and for me, getting to relax by the pool being paranoid of people thinking "Is she fat, or pregnant?" So when you see the pics below, remember, there is baby in that gut :)

I also enjoyed meeting up with Maren at Maggianos for some good food and most of all the fried zucchini.
My parents and I ended the trip with my first trip to H&M. I found out it is basically the most dangerous store for most women. I got Dax some dang cute fall clothes and maybe made some purchases for myself too.

He just laid there like that and chilled.

We also took half a day and went to see the new bridge that was just built over the Hoover Dam. Very big, high and impressive.

We are not really sure what was so funny but he started laughing and being a real big ham. Maybe the heat was getting to him.

He still would go too deep and if he fell would possibly go under so I had to stay arms length from him.

I would dunk him under and he actually liked it. He learned how to hold his breath.

I'm ready for another one of these tiny little blessings in our home so I can enjoy....

...... and most of all to have a perfect little spirit needing me and knowing I'm his momma

Finding out!

Because getting pregnant with Daxton was somewhat difficult, McKay and I decided I wouldn’t go on birth control and that we would wait to see what happens. As a matter of fact, in this case the worst scenario would be getting pregnant unexpectedly, which we could manage. Considering our history, what are the chances of conceiving with me having PCOS, still nursing Dax and not being on fertility medications? Ummmm… pretty good apparently ! We are so excited to be pregnants again, and thank heavens we didn’t have to take those horrible fertility treatments, which were emotionally and physically difficult for both McKay and me.

How I found out…….

For about a week I was slightly nauseated and couldn’t sleep at night. It was getting so bad that I needed go see a doctor to find out what was wrong. I was thinking, when I go in I can hopefully get something for the nausea, something for sleep and birth control (We had actually just made the decision to start BC again because residency is more work that we expected, and I didn’t want to have to juggle Dax, pregnancy and eventually a new baby without McKay’s help…I was pregnant at the time of that decision). Anticipating the pregnancy question from the doctor, I decided to take a test to be absolutely sure pregnancy wasn’t the source of my recent health issues. I was also hoping to get a sleeping med that actually works and I assumed that finding out if I was pregnant was very important prior to having that conversation.

I got home, took the test and to my surprise it was positive! I sat there in shock and looked at it more times than I can count. Back and forth, from the box to the + test, over and over. I couldn’t believe it! I’m pregnant!?! I was in a very unfamiliar situation. I was accustomed to taking a test, praying that it was positive and being disappointed when it was negative. This time around I was thinking “It’s going to be negative” and I had finally come to accept and expect that result. After the shock wore off, I looked over at Dax playing in the bathroom drawer and immediately started to cry. I was happy and terrified all at the same time. When I found out, Dax wasn’t walking yet, still nursing and was just simply a “baby”. How could I have another one? I kneeled down and said a prayer thanking Heavenly Father for this wonderful blessing and asked him for strength and comfort, and to know everything was all going to be okay. I was so happy!

How McKay found out is a different story. I didn’t tell McKay for 3 + days because he was so busy working 14 + hour days, there just wasn’t a good time to tell him. Sometimes he goes days without seeing Dax because he is gone before he wakes up and gets home well after he has gone down for the night. In anticipation of a future good moment to break the news, I made this cute little sign that said “A bun in the oven”, stuck it in a bun and put it in our oven. It was there for 3 days before I felt he was ready to hear the good news. I didn’t want to tell him while he was exhausted, stressed and worn out. When the time came, I asked him to take a look at the oven because I thought something was wrong with it. Attempting to “fix” the oven he saw my message, turned around with shock and tears in his eyes and gave me a huge hug. He then looked at me and said, “ You look beautiful, and you look pregnant.” We were so happy!

I am now 17 weeks along and I am just starting to feel better. I’m pretty sure the whole neighborhood, and everyone at Costco and the grocery store know I’m pregnant because I have had a few episodes of throwing up in less than ideal places. Actually, it has kind of been a nightmare. This pregnancy has been completely opposite from my first. I have zero energy, terrible heartburn, bad complexion and I’m really sick. I just feel plain yucky!

I know what you are all thinking, “it must be a girl!” Nope, it’s a BOY! We found out last week. I thought I was going to be sad if it was another boy, but when my friend Lindsay did the ultrasound and said McKay was sure good and making boys, I was pleasantly surprised at how happy I was and at how perfect he already was. She let me watch him move around much longer than a regular ultra sound appointment and I enjoyed every second of it. I have to admit I had more of a connection and feelings of love for this child than I did with Dax during his ultra sound. Maybe its because I understand better that the little black and white baby on the monitor will soon be in our arms and running around reeking havoc on anything in his path. This time, I was also able to imagine him and his personality outside my tummy. Soon after seeing the baby, I immediately knew he was suppose to be a part of our family. He and Dax are going to be best buddies, even with all the fighting and frustration that will come with brothers being 18 months apart.

I can’t say it enough, we are so happy and have complete faith that building our family is pretty much out of our hands. Heavenly Father definitely has a special plan or our little family.

McKay finally had a normal day off besides Sunday so we went to the Zoo with my parents.

I'm so BIG!

Kristina Curtis took his first yr/birthday pics and did a great job! To forewarn you I put a ton up but in my defense I had 90 to choose from! :) Here is our goofy sweet boy.

I worked so hard on this cake all for him to destroy it in like 3 min. Totally worth it :)

I know I already put up a post for his 1st yr but wanted to add some of his stats for this post for his memory book.

Weight- 21 lbs
He has 6 teeth and loves to brush them.
Sleep like a champ. He averages 10 hrs a night plus 2 naps. He is so nice to me.
I stopped nursing him and he didn’t even seem to notice or care one bit. I guess that was a good thing to have him weaned off so easily but made me kind of sad.
He’s very active by crawling around very fast stink bug style and is extremely entertained by going up and down the stairs and on and off the couches.
He NEEDS to look in your eyes sometimes and to make sure that happens he will physically turn your head by turning it with his hand, make eye contact and give you the biggest grin.
No solid walking yet. He stands by himself and can take several steps he just refuses to commit.
He makes the happiest and sweetest face when Dad comes home.

Is fascinated by the water. He could play in it all-day and we’re sad to see summer ending.
He knows how to throw a tantrum. They seem fake because he just loves to yell really loud and throw his arms around.
Now that he’s 20lbs he enjoys being faced forward in the car.
He loves everyone and hates to see people leave. An example is, when we were at his 12 month appointment when other patients would leave the waiting room he would get really sad and when the nurses would come and leave the room which seemed a lot, he would start whining. He’s so social.

Party Time!

One of the best parts of the day was a singing group of 18 men came over sang Happy Birthday to Dax. It was so AWESOME.

Our biggest boy is turning ONE! After a year Dax has become quite a character. We have put together a list of fun and interesting things about Dax.

Daxton will eat just about everything we give him but here is a list of his favorites: Cheese, Mac n Cheese, strawberries, bananas, pears, Jess’s special spaghetti with meat and veggie sauce, Café Rio quesadillas, Costco pizza, all breads and of course, CAKE! He has finally passed 20lbs and is getting so big.

Daxton says the funniest things. Of course he says “momma “, “dadda”, “na na” and “go go” all the time. He loves to say “wow” usually with amazement. He say “sish” instead of fish for cousin fisher. He loves mimicking animals and has been perfecting “moo”, “woof”, “meow” and “rawr”. He loves to say “uh oh” and tends to say it over and over as he drops things. He likes to say “ball” and “dog” when he plays with Sam.

Dax has so many things he loves to do. He loves to be around his family. Every time we get together he tries to jump out of our arms and into theirs. When it comes to family, the more the merrier in Dax’s eyes. He loves to go outside and play in the grass and dirt. Speaking of playing, dinnertime can be quite a messy adventure. He is a great eater but he also likes to play with his food and makes quite a mess. Getting messy usually leads to another favorite activity, which is getting in the tub or swimming pool. His favorite thing of all is to read books. Give him a book and he is satisfied for a long time. His favorite books are The Monster at the End of this Book with Grover, Find the Puppy and Barnyard Dance. Much to dad’s disappointment Dax does not like Goodnight Moon, but neither does mom.

Now for a couple of the most fun and goofy things Dax does. He loves to play patty cake by clapping his hands and then the big finale of throwing it in the oven by tossing his hands high over his head. He loves to give high fives and play tug-o-war with Sam. He still loves to do fake laughs and coughs which usually turns into real laughing that is uncontrollable. He loves to be thrown in the air, turned upside down and twirled around. Sometimes dad will put Dax in his office chair and spin him around. Finally Dax loves to chase others and be chased himself. Almost every night before bed we chase each other until we are out of breath and its time to go to sleep. He becomes more and more curious everyday in trying to find out what is behind every cupboard, in every drawer and pulls EVERYTHING out. We love this BOY!

I cant even explain enough how much Daxton is enjoying books these days. Basically anywhere we are he can spot any book in the room and want nothing to do with me and just discover it. Every morning when we come down stairs I put him down and he immediately crawls over with all the excitement one boy can have, looks at the book case of a couple dozen books and seems to find his favorite 4. "I love you Stinky Face" "The Monster at the end of this book" "Barnyard Dance" and "Where is Puppy?" He finds the smooth side, (the spine) quickly flips it over so he can pry it open and start turning the pages over and over again enjoying the illustration. McKay and I love it when he is reading he looks very wise or how he intensely reads by jabbering away like a pro as if he has been reading his whole life. Reading to him is even more fun. He loves listening to the excitement and different pitches in our voice. Hes getting so BIG!

Gateway Discovery and a sleepover!

We had my nieces over for a weekend and had lots of fun watching movies and eating popcorn, shopping, painting our nails, helping me scrapbook and spending the day at Discovery Gateway in SLC. Discovery Gateway was a blast! There is SO MUCH to see and do plus it was so fun for Dax too getting to watch and participate in many things that the girls did also. We figured in the end that we didn’t even get to about 25% of it after about 5 hrs of being there. I would recommend it to anyone with kiddos.

The 4^th of July started early and ended late packed with lots of fun stuff. Dax was a trooper the whole time being as happy as ever with lots to look at and lots of cousins to keep him entertained.


We started by going to the Balloon Fest and unfortunately the wind picked up and it was too dangerous so they didn't go up

For Art City Days in Springville my dad got the whole gang together for a very entertaining night filled with family fun, good food, a concert and awesome fireworks.

Dax was a good little boy playing with his cousins and being entertained by watching his surroundings. Then when the concert started he zonked out! It was pretty loud but he slept through most of it. He woke up in time for the fireworks, which he loved and he actually fell back asleep during the finale. I barley even watched the fireworks because I loved seeing the look in Dax’s eyes how somber and sleepy he was but he definitely liked them. In a strange way they seemed to relax him.
A very BIG thanks to my dad for setting it up. (Notice my mom is not in any pictures? Ohhhh...that's because she hangin out in Cali with her friends on a yacht!) Who had more fun?

Getting just too big!

In the past 2 months Dax had changed so much! Actually in the past 2 weeks he has become a totally different baby. He went from sitting in the middle of the floor playing with a toy, to crawling, cruising along furniture, pulling himself up and being able to push himself to a sitting position all in about 2 days. I always heard people say “One day he’ll just start moving and getting into everything!” Yeah, you’re all correct. It seemed like it took little practice and now he acts as though he has been doing it perfect all along. It surprised both us how fast he grew up.

He is back to sleeping the entire night in his room again and he averages about 11 hrs every night. Getting there again was not so easy this time. We did the “Cry it out method” which for some (me), means the mom cries too. It was tough but I stayed strong and he is a great sleeper now.

His personality is still as goofy and fun as ever. He loves to growl and howl at you while crawling around. He will carry on a conversation with anyone by saying “Oh” in different tones, especially with girls at the grocery and convenience stores. When he’s really passionate about what he is trying to say he gets loud and yells every word he knows ranging from Ah!, Da Da! Gog! Ba Ba! Ma! and Oh!

Dax loves being chased when crawling or chasing us while crawling. While being chased he gets so excited that his arms and legs get moving so fast that he falls on his stomach and waves his arms back an forth like a maniac, laughing as hard as he can. When he crawls on anything besides carpet like tile, wood floor, cement, grass etc…. he goes on his hands and feet with his bum in the air like a bear crawl, we call him our little stink bug. He is such a goof.

He loves to drink water and lemonade, but doesn’t like juice of any kind.

He loves to eat a lot of different kinds of food but mostly pears, all meats, cheeses, Greek yogurt, and diced steamed carrots. In a nutshell he won’t eat baby food or really anything pureed on a spoon, he likes what we eat just chopped up in bite size pieces.

My favorite sweet moments now are:

· Kisses, you know the bog slobbery mouth wide-open kind.

· He brings us books and crawls up in our lap so we will read them to him.

· When he gets sleepy he will sometimes crawl up in my lap, snuggle his face into my neck and fall asleep while I tickle his back.

· Watching him crawl away from me and turn around with a BIG smile waving bye-bye as hard as he can.

· Seeing him play with Sammy. He and Sammy will run (crawl) around the room with a ball or toy and when Dax finally gets it he throws his the ball in hand in the air the waving it around looking for us to get our approval (we say in a high pitched voice “Good Joooooob!”) with a big smile.

He loves his "walker" ....well, that's what we call it because his Great Grammy has to use one too and we are going to take Dax down to her home so they can walk the halls together with their "walkers"

Dax got his first bad fever last month. It only last 24 hrs and for that day I hate to say it but....I kinda liked it, he was so sweet, somber and snugly with his cute rosy cheeks and nose.

This flower is pretty cool but would be much cooler if I could rip it off, tear it apart and eat it which is pretty typical for my flowers at home.

Daxton is such a sweet boy and we love watching him learn and grow EVERYDAY! He is changing so much. I wish I could freeze time and sometimes you might catch me pleading with him to stop growing but he then quickly does something new and hilarious that makes it worth it.

McKay's first fathers day was so great. He basically did what he does best by taking care of and playing with his son most of the morning. Meanwhile, I baked and got ready for a Fathers Day dinner at my mom and dads. We were able to see McKay's dad for awhile and then we went to a BBQ dinner at my parents for the celebration. We are so grateful for both our fathers and how much they do for us.
I had the idea of finding a ONE great pic to post of McKay and Dax and obviously could not decide.

I made delish cupcakes for all the wonderful dads in my life. The night that McKay was away to take his MPJE test I put Dax down for the night and had a couple of hours to watch Life as we know it (a favorite) and my craftiness came out by making the cake toppers. It was actually pretty fun. Lame right?

Memorial Weekend

Memorial weekend was filled with lots of stuff! We again spent the weekend up in Midway at Zermatt with McKay's family. We enjoyed the perfect weather along with eating good food, swimming in the pool, shopping at the favorite Everything in the Barn boutique and riding in Thomas he Train.

On Memorial Day we got together with the whole Robinson family at Magleby's for breakfast, then went to the cemetery to visit his grave. After we went to Max's house and picked out some remembrance items to always remind us of him. Later that afternoon the guys had a Max Memorial golf tournament in his honor and had the privilege to wear one of his old hats. There were lot and lots of hats to choose from. Some of them were very.......unique :)

We also had the opportunity for Daxton and Hunter to finally meet. Hunter is McKay's cousins son. They were born about a week apart and live in Reno, NV. They were here for the weekend so we had them over for breakfast and let the kiddos play. Thanks to Nick and Serina for stopping by and a big thanks to Hunter for being such a cutie and showing us all the baby proofing we had to look forward to. (which we have now had to do)

Although they are so close in age they were pretty different. Hunter is a busy busy boy! Crawling climbing and pulling himself up.......and Dax watched him :)

Memorial weekend was so much fun and kept us very busy. In addition to the above mentioned activities, we were able to visit grandma Munson in Summerfield and visit the Stika family grave sites. It was so fun to hear Nana and Papa Stika tell us about their ancestors and share with us fun facts and stories about each one. We are truly grateful for the sacrifices our ancestors made to pave the way to our current happiness. We enjoy spending time with our families, and we love them so much.

Zermatt. The 1st weekend

We had the opportunity to enjoy Mark and Mary's Zermatt condo in Midway for almost 2 weeks. The first weekend my parents came up and the second for Memorial weekend we were with McKay's parents and his sister's family from Vegas. The weather was great most of the time and there is so much to do. You can see how beautiful it is and ohhh... how relaxing.

Enjoy the spa and gym

New Address!

Being back in Utah is marvelous! We are so happy with our home and it is coming together nicely. The weather is perfect for me, even though we got tons of rain the first part of being back. Now its mid 70's and lovely. We have met lots of new people in our ward and community and everyone is super nice. I already have play dates with the other mothers set up and once a month we get together with the some of the other couples in our ward to go out to eat. Plus being able to get together with all of my other friends from when we lived here before and high school is so awesome. I was bit worried of becoming possible bored after we got settled and being a stay at home mom, but I quickly realized how much fun I am going to have spending time with Dax and our family and friends. Lots to do and lots of fun to be had this summer!

Oh My! 4 years have come and gone so fast. In those years we both worked very hard (especially McKay) and our final goal has been achieved. McKay is now a Pharmacist, we have the sweetest little baby boy, we bought and sold our house and are now back in UT. The entire weekend of graduation celebration was a whirlwind to say the least. In less that 48 hrs we closed on our home, packed up the house, loaded the trailer, Mckay graduated and we drove to UT! Phewww!

That is one happy guy!

Day 1

Friday we closed on our house and both sets of parents arrived. Dax also had his 9-month appointment. That evening we packed up most of our home in the trailer. We also had a wonderful graduation dinner consisting of Mr. Jims Pizza (a Laramie favorite) in the lobby of our parent’s hotel.

Day 2

McKay was up and out the door at 6am with his friends for breakfast and pictures. I was also up and getting us ready to meet the parents and the hotel for breakfast at 7am. McKay graduated at 8:30. While McKay was finishing up we went back and finished loading our stuff and cleaned the house. McKay then got done and we took some pictures in his cap and gown, then took family pictures in our WY brown and gold attire. We left town by noon to be back in UT by 7. Not all of us made it by 7 though, we had troubles with the trailer and the rest got to UT around 9.

The Graduation

It was priceless seeing McKay walk for graduation, hearing his name called, watching him be hooded with his doctoral robe, and receive his degree. Seeing his beaming face brought tears not only to my eyes but also those of our parents. It was especially remarkable because McKay’s grandfather Max, who had just recently passed a few weeks before, attended UW and McKay had always felt a special connection with Grandpa because they shared the same school. The commencement speaker was a journalist with MSN and he was not only inspirational but also very funny. Dax did pretty good during the ceremony, but got restless due to graduation falling during his nap-time but he was a sweetie and like always, entertaining.

Everything else

As we close the Wyoming chapter of our lives, it is bittersweet to leave Laramie. We leave there the challenges of getting into school, old jobs, church wards and the many friends we made during that time that we will always cherish. However, we take away so much, nothing more important than the lessons we learned to rely on each other through the good and the bad times. We really “liked” the opportunity to spend 4 years in Laramie but LOVE that we have the option to come back to UT were we both grew up.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to move to a place were we can now start the next chapter of our lives. We are settling into our new home in Draper and we LOVE IT! Draper is a wonderful place. We are in a quite little development, but have pretty much any store we want and need (and even those we don’t need) less than 5 min away. Being close to the Draper temple is also a big plus being that we used to live 2+ hours from a temple and now it is more like a few minute drive. We went on a walk last night on the Willow Creek paved trail which we found very close to our house and the view of the mountains with the temple tucked up in them was beautiful.

McKay is now working on and studying for the NAPLEX and Utah law exams in order to become a licensed Pharmacist before his residency starts July 1^st at the University of Utah. In the mean time we are planning lots of family and friend time, a trip to St. George, Vegas and lots time in at Zermatt in Midway. I am staying very busy unpacking the house, catching up with old friends and taking care of Dax and Sam. The house is basically unpacked but now we just need to organize everything, so that it’s all in the right place. I love having an extra room that we can use as a guest bedroom and home office (and an extra place to put stuff).

We are tremendously happy and feel very blessed to have our happy little family back in Utah. Thank you to all our friends in Wyoming and Colorado that made our time there so great. We will miss you all and remember that you are always welcome at our house in south SLC if you are ever visiting or just passing through!

Easter and a lily

Happy Easter from the Robinson crew! We were going to go to an Easter egg hunt tomorrow but, considering that we live in WY and it’s freezing and windy here right now we decided to wait until next year for the first Easter egg hunt. Plus, Dax as no idea what’s going so we are just going to give him his Easter stuff at home in the comfort of our little warm house. Good idea? We think so!!!

A quick story about the lily:

Every year my grandpa would get all of his daughters (one being my mother) an Easter lily and when he passed away my sweet dad took on that role. Now, every year I get one from him, along with my sisters-in-laws. Living in Laramie, 7 hours away, has made the task for my father more challenging, and it has been fun to see how creative he is to get it to me before Easter. This year it was extra special. We were in Utah looking for housing and spent Sunday evening at my parent’s house before heading home the next day. McKay woke me up Monday morning and told me there was a surprise for me on the porch. After running downstairs (like Christmas in April) this is what I found. My dad had gotten up very early, and went out of his way to bring me my sentimental flower so I could take it home with me to enjoy for the Easter season and beyond. This gesture means so much to me on so many different levels. I love you and thank you Daddy and miss you Grandpa.

The month of 7! Leaps and Bounds

The 7^th and most progressive month of all

Right now if I had to explain Daxton’s personality and temperament, I would have to say, he is a very content child that constantly analyzes everything. He seems to ponder everything that is going on around him like thinking very hard about the toy in his hand, how it is shaped, the texture and how it is making that noise. He is not real active, just happy to be sitting on his blanket with a plethora of toys, figuring out life’s problems. When our little munchkin smiles, it lights up the room with how sweet it is. You can see it in his eyes how happy he is to be alive and he knows he is so loved by everyone in his life.

During Daxton’s 7^th month of life he figured out how to do lots of new things and master a few other skills he was working on. A few things he is getting really good at are:

· Waving Bye bye

· Giving fives

· Using his voice. He can say Da-Da, Ba-Ba, Bu-bu, Wuh- Wuh and Ga-Ga. He says “Oh!” as though he is surprisingly agreeing with you, you say it back he then repeats and so on. It’s darling. He did say Ma-Ma twice but he was very upset both times.

· Yelling and squealing when you are not paying attention.

· Faking coughs and it is….. hilarious!

· He can laugh now! McKay and I both agreed that he was going to go down in history as the happiest, smiley baby that didn’t laugh. Not anymore. He laughs when he is being tickled, especially on his chin (strange right?, but its true and so cute). He giggles while being hung upside down and swayed back and forth, at Kung Fu Panda and when Sammy licks his hands after he eats.

· He loves to lay his head down on whatever is available at the time, a shoulder, chest or his own arm while in the bouncer (refer to pic below). He even tilts it to the side when he is knows people are talking to him which makes him even cuter than he already is.

· He is a major flirt and a huge people watcher. Going to the grocery store for a quick trip is not possible. Once he sees the people and starts talking and smiling, people can’t resist stopping. Especially when he has this huge gummy smile and tries to have a delightful conversation with them. It is fun to watch but can get difficult when I am in a hurry.

· He has mastered sitting up now. There is no more wobbly tippy baby. He bounces up and down when he gets excited holding on his feet. It is like he’s going to bounce right out of the room!

· He has now perfected pincer grasp and loves picking up his small treats with his fingers. He likes Cheerios, Gerber stars puffs and whatever we are eating. Putting a few treats on his highchair and getting work done while he plays is very helpful!

· Drinking with a straw and his sippy. All he wants is cold water, none of this juice stuff.

· His bouncer! He finally figured out how to use it and he goes nuts. We call it “Fisher Style”.

· Standing up while holding on to furniture. I don’t dare do this unless I am right by his side though.

· He loves going for walks in his stroller. I love this the very most! I joked with McKay that he can expect a jogging stroller for his birthday this month. Fortunately for me, he agreed. Bwahahaha! It’s all in my master plan.

A few things he struggles still are:

· At times he gets pretty needy and all he wants to do is be picked and held so he can nuzzle his head in my neck. I don’t get much done on these days but snuggling and nuzzling are an essential parts of life.

· He still isn’t sleeping very well. He got sick again, but just a little cold this time, which brought back his sleep struggles. After sleeping so well after our Mexico and extended Utah trip, I thought he would go back to sleeping through the night, but I was wrong. I can’t complain too much though, he gives me wonderful naps during the day and he is always happy.

· He still has no interest in crawling. He like to stay in the crawling position and rock back and forth, but that’s all. We think he might be one of those babies that skips crawling and goes straight to walking. He is definitely a little marcher and his favorite thing to do is stroll around the house with mom and dad (or anyone that will do it with him)

· The booger sucker is getting so hard to use on him. He flips out, screams, yells, grabs it from you, arches his back, turns his head…… I’m sure you’ve got the picture. Then when your done he immediately looks up and forgives you with his big cheerful smile. He is so forgiving.

· For about 2 days he did this separation anxiety thing where he only wanted me! This freaked me out, but thank goodness that went away as quickly as it showed up. Every once in a while someone freaks him out and he gets a scared look on in face, but as long as he can look around and find me he is OK (for now at least).

Where do I start with how amazingly perfect and well driven this husband and dad is?

Well, for starters, the day we all have been waiting for is almost here. On May 7^th, I will be watching McKay walk across the UW stage to graduate pharmacy school and become:

McKay M Robinson Pharm. D.

4 years in Wyoming are coming to an end and we are so excited to start the next chapter back in UT for another…year…of school…What’s that you say? More school? Yep, it’s true and how grateful we are for him to have this opportunity to complete a year of residency training. For those not familiar with a residency, basically McKay will graduate, take the NAPLEX (North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination) and law exam (MPJE) and will become a registered pharmacist. Instead of accepting a traditional pharmacy position he is choosing to get more specialized training and education in the area of community pharmacy. Completing a residency will open up doors in unique and diverse areas of pharmacy, that McKay is interested in. The application and interview processes for the different residency programs was a challenging and full of surprises, but we are now excited and grateful that he has accepted a position with the University of Utah.

These changes mean that the next phase of our lives will be in Salt Lake City, and we are currently looking for a place to rent anywhere from Lehi to SLC.

So here’s to you McKay! I am so excited for our next step in life. They will be momentous because of all of your hard work and determination you have put forth in all that you have done for our little family. We made a great team I’d say

Isla Mujeres

Our visit to Women Island was such a fun and memorable experience. The weather was perfect, the waves were small, the water was warm, and the food was great, chicken fajitas and Diet coke. We had a great time.

The boat ride to the Island. Can you tell the "tear free" sunscreen was not so "tear free" for Dax. His eyes were watering so bad for about 30 min after we put it on.

We dodged a huge bullet by having a very easy going baby on these long flights. His ears equalized just fine and thank goodness he is a huge people watcher, just wanting to flirt with all the girls and holler at everyone else. He was a hit on the plane and with such a long flight everyone around us got to know Dax pretty well. He was so good because we were prepared with may things to do which kept entertained. Needless to say we were all exhausted when we landed

The first time we got in the pool the water was kinda cold and I thought we were doomed to having a bad experience. Fortunately, he likes cold things and it wasn't a big problem like I had expected. At first you could see in his face that he was cold, but he quickly started to enjoy himself by splashing around and trying to drink the water. He is such a funny and odd boy!

So these scary iguanas are EVERYWHERE and I hate them. They run from people and are not dangerous at all, but for some reason I am a huge baby and kept thinking that when I turned my back they would try and bite my heals. EEEEEKKKK! Dax, on the other hand, loved them and couldn't get close enough.

I love this towel. He is my little monster.

The day we arrived Nana wasted no time and took Dax over to the pool and found out that he is a big fan a the water. In not time his little hands and feet were splashing like crazy.

He was one pooped baby! This was a frequent napping spot for Dax. We were very happy with the stroller we chose because it would lay completely flat giving him a great place to nap. It was also nice not to completely ruin his napping schedule while on vacation.

One morning I woke up to see dad and Dax sleeping in the same position. Unfortunately when I took the picture it woke up McKay! Whoops, but it was worth the memory!

A big reason why my parents wanted to take us to Mexico was to join them in celebrating 35 years of being in a wonderful, successful relationship and marriage. The trip gave them the opportunity to renew there vows in front of their children. It was beautiful seeing my parents express their genuine and deep love for each other in front of us. To say the least, it was a very tearful and happy time. I loved seeing that they are still madly in love, and as giddy as newly weds. Watching my dad look into my mother’s eyes and seeing how stunning my mom looked was something that I will never forget. I am so grateful to have such loving parents that are wonderful examples of how to treat one another.

Being a mom to a snuggle bug.

I feel so privileged to have this little snuggle bug as my son. It’s true that its hard work and some might say it’s the hardest job in the world but it is also true how unbelievably rewarding it is.

As discouraged as I have gotten with Dax not sleeping through the night anymore I have to admit that most early mornings (around 4ish) when he is done eating he falls fast asleep nuzzling his head in my neck, I choose to stay awake feeling is breath on my neck listening to his little sleepy dream whimpers. Melts my heart and makes me feel so blessed to be a mommy.

A breath of fresh air

Today the weather in Laramie was satisfactory, which means above freezing and not very windy, so we were off to Washington Park for a stroll and to try out the new stroller. It. Was. Awesome.

Daxton loved the stroller being faced forward enjoying the view and chatting at every person, dog, tree and playground as we passed. Sammy did great too and insisted on staying to the left and about a foot from the stroller walking at the same pace. (lucky for Sam because that just means he gets to go with us everytime now) We walked for 45 minutes and enjoyed every second. It was so nice to get out of the house and get some much needed fresh air and exercise. It makes me happy looking forward to the future of good weather being able to be outside as a family enjoying life. Speaking of life, its pretty dang good :)

Daxton also learned how to bang his spoon on his high chair and enjoys the noise it makes. Sammy likes it too I guess or it could be the food smeared all over his body and chair. I have a pretty good guess that its the food :)

Here is a picture of Daxton's Papa Bruce at his same age. They both have cute round heads and little button noses that are adorable. We were so surprised and pleased to see how much Dax resembles him.

3 days after we got back to WY Daxton came down with a terrible head cold….blahhh! It was terrible, in fact he is still coughing, but at least he is much happier. Once the cold was over I was thrilled to have my happy baby back, but instead, he decided that since he had all this attention during the night while he was sick, he was not about to give that up. Thus my problem, Daxton will not sleep through the night anymore. I went from a baby that was sleeping 10-12 hrs a night to waking up wanting food twice or more a night! On top of that he is too strong to be swaddled, so every time he gets his arms free he is wide-awake and not happy. Now we are weaning him from the swaddle which he as actually doing well. He still takes three 2 hour naps a day so I’m hoping we can take advantage of those to help break his swaddle habit.

We had Daxton’s 6 month appointment this week and got some interesting news. Daxton is now in the 5^th percentile for his weight, which breaks my heart. His pediatrician gave me some tips to get him to eat more but he is still just my little birdie eater. McKay tells me not to worry too much because we are both pretty small people and we were small babies. Luckily he is healthy, but I can’t let it go and I am worrying out of my mind. To change things I decided to introduce formula more firmly with him but he is not having it! This has been so frustrating because it has never been a problem that we have had to deal with and it is unsettling that his weight percentile is continually dropping. I am going to keep trying to work with bottle feeding and nursing to see how it goes.

On a lighter note! Daxton is super fun and awesome during the day and like I said, his naps are perfect. He loves his jumperroo more and more all the time. Sitting up is getting better and now he is able to rock back and forth on his hands and knees. I am still holding out that he will not crawl before Mexico.

Anybody that has spent even a little time with Dax knows that anything that you are putting up to your mouth he thinks he has to have it too. He was trying so hard to get this cupcake and it got as far as getting just on his face.

He's pretty strong and determined to get it. Can ya blame him?

..... same with our drinks he likes to suck on the outside because they are cold and obviously he can see we're drinking it.

Thanks for your help Vicks, nose sucker, Tylenol, saline drops humidifier and Puffs but hopefully I wont see you all for a while. Gezzzz having a sick baby stinks!

This year Valentines Day was little different than we expected. Besides celebrating my birthday on the 12^th, Dax and I have major colds and we aren’t sleeping much. With all this going on, McKay and I decided to pass on celebrating this year, and focus on getting well again. We took Dax to his pediatrician and got good news that he does not have RSV, which was a relief because it is going around Laramie big time right now. Apparently our little guy has a severe head cold, but he should start getting better soon.

I couldn’t handle the fact that it was Valentines Day and we weren’t going to do anything to celebrate. To change that, when Daxton went down for a nap I grabbed a bunch red, white and pink pieces of paper and cut out hearts and hurried to stick them up around the house before McKay got home (lame I know but it filled the void). Then, I got our homemade dinner ready. I made McKay’s favorite; Tri tip roast, mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Yummy! I also made some heart shaped sugar cookies for us to decorate and eat when Dax went down for the night. I am sure McKay was thrilled to decorate cookies but he’s a trooper.

I am in love with not only my husband but also with my life. I am so grateful for all the love that is in our home right now. Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Wow, We can’t believe that our baby Daxton is a ½ year old already. He is growing like a weed! He is 16 lbs. now and he eats a lot, sits up and when he has something to hold on to, he stands up without any help. McKay and I have a bet going on about when he will crawl. McKay thinks he will be crawling sooner I do. While on his tummy he pushes up with his hands and lunges with his feet to move around and tries so hard, but I still think it will be a month or so before he gets moving around. I would rather him not be crawling while we are with my family in Mexico in March. Unfortunately I it’s not up to me though.

“ODD THINGS” We LOVE about our Daxton.

Dax is very resilient. There have been several times that he has been bonked, scratched, stepped on (by Sam), scared etc…. and we freeze waiting for him to cry. Instead he furrows his eyebrows and brushes it off. Even when he gets his shots he’s tough and cries less than we expect. He is one strong dude.

Dax loves strange things. For example, he is turning into an adrenaline junkie. Scare him; throw him in the air or blow air in his face, he loves it! When we play fetch with Sam and he returns the ball back to us with Dax in our lap, Dax starts kicking and squealing like crazy. You can see the fear in his face for a moment, but he loves it.

Another strange thing he loves is anything cold. He likes being cold, sucking on ice cubes or cans of Diet Coke and when blow cold air on him when changing his diaper, he squeals and does his own unique laugh (I will explain next).

Dax has a hard time laughing and giggling. In Utah, everyone kept trying to make him laugh, but failed every time. He has this very low, cartoon like voice when he is babbling away, so we found out that when he is tickled or excited he makes this low, grunting, yelling noise. It is a very unique laugh for sure. For how happy and smiley Dax is we thought giggling would be common, but as with all the other odd things he does, it suits him well.

Food, lets start with the food that he likes.

Bananas, prunes, avocado, sweet potatoes, rice cereal and oatmeal plain or mixed with fruits or veggies, applesauce, green beans, pears, peaches, squash……etc. Get the picture? He eats and loves everything except 2 things, formula and peas. He will actually eat the peas but does so with disgust. He gets so excited when I get out his bowl and spoon and prepare his food. He starts panting like puppy and throws his arms around.

Daxton loves his Sammy and wants to watch him every chance he gets. Sam, on the other hand, is hot and cold with Dax. Sometimes Sam avoids Dax or looks at him with annoyance and walks away. Other times he lets Dax touch and roll around with him. There have even been a few times when Sam will play tug of war with Dax. All in all, Sam is great with Dax and is not aggressive at all, thank goodness. They will be best buds someday, especially when Dax learns to throw the ball and crawl around with him.

Today is my birthday and I must say, it is one that I will never forget. Daxton came down with a cold the last night and needless to say, it was a rough night. After the bad night, he was so snuggly and needy for us all day. Snuggles from Dax was the best Birthday present ever! Thanks buddy! McKay was here the whole day too, which is something we aren’t used to. The last year of pharmacy school if McKay wasn’t catching up on studying, he was working at the pharmacy, which isn’t the ideal way to spend a Saturday in my opinion. For my birthday McKay made me breakfast, gave me a massage and took care a Dax so I could take a nap. For dinner all my favs pizza, Diet Cokes and ice cream. Thanks for the best birthday ever McKay and Dax. I love being a mom and wife, and look forward to many birthdays with you guys in the future.

1st day back to cowboy country!

Our first day back home to Wyoming is a success! Why you ask? Well, let me tell you…

1^st Daxton sits up all by himself! He falls over after a min or so but does a great job using his balancing skills and when they fail him (which it does quit often) he uses his hands to hold himself up. When he gets really excited it’s all over he forgets and topples right over. He is getting so big.

2^nd His naps are very consistent. 2 hrs twice a day. Coming from UT and having lots of new noises and just plain being busy with other activities with family and friends, naps were whenever we could get them in. So go Dax!

3^rd We are just so happy to be in our nice warm home with McKay being on some sort of normal schedule, kind of a 8 to 5. We have never experienced this EVER! He gets to come home from teaching his class at UW everyday for lunch too! We love our Daddy.

Being in UT with everyone was quit the treat for us. We had so much fun and did so much . Thanks to both parents for letting us stay in your homes. We will never forget that experience.

All the stuff we did in UT will be in a later post when I get some time very soon.

Yep! He loves it. He is like a little bird and keeps his mouth wide open and kicks his legs until you place more in his mouth, eats it right up and open goes his mouth again. Feeding him is fun, messy and quit hilarious.

We are in Ut at McKays parents home while McKay does his 3rd to last rotation so we are getting lots of good family time in.

This does require a lot of time in the car seat buzzing around town seeing family and friends. He is starting to realize that he doesn't like being in his car seat so much.

He loves Great Grammy! We are very lucky to see sweet grammy a couple times a week.

Dax has this giraffe and we take it everywhere we go. He just holds on to it tight and gives it some good munching when he gets bored. This was also our last day at work. Bitter sweet I guess.
